Hey everyone!

I know there have been many threads about this, but they all seem to go around third party software not being recognized as "installed" in the App Store.

I have the following Apple Software installed from other sources than the App Store (preinstalled or DVD):
- iLife (iPhoto, iMovie, Garageband)
- iWork (Keynote, Pages, Numbers)
- Logic Studio (including Logic Pro, Main Stage)

While iLife was found and registered as "installed" by the App Store, neither iWork nor Logic Studio have.

I have two questions:

1. Could this have any disadvantages for me in the future? Apple seems to be fading out optical drives, and maybe I will soon only be able to install registered software from the App Store, not from DVDs?

2. Is there anything I can do to make the App Store see these installed programs? I'm running Lion.

Thanks in advance,

Floh

Not from what I've found. I called apple support and they said there working on a solution but for now it's a case of keeping the disks.

Thanks! Now that is first hand information! 🙂

So I guess I'll be fine for now, knowing that Apple knows about this and will provide a solution before banning discs completely.
