Installed Bootcamp with Win 7 and now its very slow to boot up

I have lion installed on my Mac Pro - 8 Core. (8gb Ram) (work machine, not hackintosh)
installed a 160gb SATA drive and then
i installed windows 7 64 bit on the 160GB HDD.

I have OSX on a 300GB Raptor 10kRPM SATA

it takes about 10-12 minutes to boot (first 6 min is just black screen) into windows or OSX now
I zapped the Pram and repaired permissions but it made no difference.
all updates have been applied in both OS's
once booted they run fine

not sure what to do.

Do you have OS X selected as your startup disk in System Preferences?

yes i switched using the boot camp controls in Windows 7 or via the startup disk selection in preferences.

Called Apple Support.. they suggest that whenever i boot up to hold option then select the OS i want to load.. its faster.

apparently this behavior is normal 🙁
