So I installed the latest update to Flash hoping it would help with my periodic spinning beach balls when using Safari (plus, Firefox told me I needed to update my Flash). So, I don't see anything in my Applications folder. Where is it and how would I uninstall it if I wanted to? I thought the great thing about OSX was that it doesn't hide where it installs things...

It's not "hiding where you install things". Flash isn't an application you open (unless you installed Flash CS4 or something), it is installed by your browser and only used when a page needs Flash. And I don't see where you got the notion that it would help a periodically spinning beach ball - that would be an extremely odd connection 😕.

Anyways, in Firefox for example, you would just go to Tools > Add-ons > Plugins and uninstall Flash there. I think there might be something similar in Safari.
