I need assistance with a problem. I recently bought a Intel Macbook and ordered 2 1GB Ram modules from OWC. When I installed the new Ram and booted the Mac it showed only 1GB of memory installed. Now what are the chances that I installed them improperly vs. one of the modules is dysfunctional? I found the install to be a pain in the ass! Of course, this is my first attempt at anything like this. I would greatly appreciate any of your valuble opinions. Thank you in advance!
BTW, I have the Macbook with 2.0 Intel, 60GB HD, and the 2GB memory upgrade. Also, one of the new 80G video Ipods. I love it all!:)

The chances are pretty good that you haven't installed one of them all the way. It takes more pressure than you would think to get them into the socket -- and its deceiving, there is an initial push, then a thunk. But you have to keep going because there's a click after the thunk that indicates its all the way in.

Try a reinstallation, then call OWC if still no joy. Just for fun, before reinstalling, record from System Profiler : Memory just which socket is registering 1 Gb and which is empty, then reinstall the RAM in opposite sockets to the way it is. Check it again. This allows you to see if the problem follows the RAM module, or the socket.
