I was so stupid to download and install the public beta of Yosemite on my main drive, overwriting Mavericks.. I thought that it was easy to go back to mavericks after testing it a little.

Can anyone please tell me how i can install Mavericks again? :)

I don't have any TimeMachine backups, all my stuff is on external drives.

I have tried cmd+r when booting to get to the installer, but i can only install Yosemite again.

Unless Yosemite has changed this, when you enter recovery mode you should be able to choose Internet Recovery, which downloads the software your mac originally came with. Last time I did it it downloaded mountain lion, and from there I just upgraded to mavericks again through the App Store.

ALSO: if you choose to install from your startup disk it will install the most recent version (I.e. Yosemite) while Internet Recovery downloads the entire original OS from Apple's server.

And btw, will my files and programs still be there after the installation or every thing is just gone.?
