Installing a profile?

hey guys

I recently had my work I.T dept set me up for wifi on my iPad and iPhone and I put in my passcode and it installed a "profile"..what is this?

Is there any links where I can read about what this is as I didn't think it was possible to get into iOS like that..?

There are multiple things that iOS calls ‘profiles’. It can be a root certificate, a network configuration or a settings configuration. Once installed, it enforces the configuration as long as the profile remains installed.

It's most likely your organization's profile. That allows them to set certain configurations and install certain apps.
