Installing Addons for Firefox

On my PC when I click to download and addon or plugin it automatically installs them. With my mac it just downloads the files to my desktop. Is there a way I can get it to install automatically, if not, where do I put the folder for the addon?

I use the Tools > Add-ons menu selection. It just works.

Sounds like you changed the default behavior because it does install automatically on my machine as it always has.

I just downloaded it from the site and then tried to download an addon. :-/
