    Hi all,

I am a proud new owner of an iPhone 3G; as I just upgraded earlier today. Now my question is in regards to iTunes. I have never installed iTunes on any of my machines (due to its lackluster performance on PCs) but obviously to fully utilize all of the iPhones functions iTunes needs to be installed.

Is it possible to install an older version of iTunes, say version 7.7.1 and have full iPhone 3G compliance? I could care less about the Genius Bar features of iTunes 8. From what I have gathered, it seems that iTunes 7.7.1 runs a bit better than iTunes 8 in terms of speed. Or is the performance about the same?

Feel free to offer any "performance enhancement" tips for iTunes to make it somewhat usable.

    Thanks.

    Go to:

    http://www.download.com/Apple-iTunes/3000-2141_4-10057115.html?tag=mncol

and select the version you want under the "previous versions" drop down.

    Hope that helps!!!:D

Honestly, I would use iTunes 8. On my new MacBook, itunes 8 uses less resources then 7.7 did. Just go with the newest version.

I think you will enjoy iTunes after all "it's like giving a glass of water to people in hell" Steve Jobs talking about iTunes on Windows.
