Installing/booting Lion from USB flash drive?

Don't want to install on my Mac Pro and don't have a USB HD. I do have an 8GB USB flash drive handy. Can I install Lion and boot from a flash drive?

What about using Disk Utility to partition your current internal HDD, 10GB to 20GB should suffice?

A USB thumbdrive might be very slow to read and write to (5 to 20MB/s), therefore you will have a slow experience.

I have a Striped RAID setup so I don't think I can partition it.
