So I'd like to install the divx codec so I can watch divx movies in quicktime. However it looks like you have to install a whole bundle of software just to get the codec. Is there a way to just download the codec somewhere and would the suffice to play divx movies?

I'm get a little suspicious of these companies that force you to add stuff in directories all over your computer and inevitably slow it down.

Anyhelp or pointers would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hm, yeah looks like the divx.com package installs more than it used to. You could use Pacifist to open the Installer.pkg and just copy the files you want or you could download Perian for QT which supports a whole bunch more stuff. Or, you could use VLC.

Thanks apfhex,

I took your advice on downloading the software and opening it up in search of the elusive codec. I found it and works great! I'll have to be sure to back it up to save for future reformats and such.
