I'm a newbie switcher from the PC. I don't quite fully understand the procedure for installing downloaded apps. I've installed almost a dozen apps, and for most of them, its straightforward. I download, click on the .dmg file, which has gone to my desktop, and everything gets installed in the proper folder and is in my apps folder. Some of my apps seem to forever reside in the download folder. I have to find it, click on the DMG file (a dmg icon goes to the desktop) click again on the app file and agree that I want to use the app. However, the app doesn't stay anywhere. The next time I want to use it, I have to find the dmg folder all over again. This doesn't seem right to me.

The apps are Cyberduck (great once I finally open it) and Abiword (same as Cyberduck) and a few card games.

So, how do I put the apps only in a place where I can open them qwith one clcik of one file or icon?

You're right. I should have consulted the guide first. It answered my question. Thanks.
