Installing Downloads folder onto dock

I have accidentally deleted the Downloads folder from the dock in my Macbook (OSX Leopard). I have tried to drag it back from Finder but it refuses. Any ideas?

Are you sure you dragged it to right place? You have to drag it next to the trash bin. See pic below

It must be placed on the right hand side of the divider line, on the dock.
