Is it possible to install the ilife 06 that came on my ibook g4 install disks onto an imac g5?

No, you cannot use the restore discs of one computer to install either the OS or the bundled software on a different computer. iLife retails for $79 U.S., and you can still purchase iLife '06 directly from an AppleCare agent.
