Media takes up a lot of space(sound clips, motion templates, dvdstudio templates, etc) on my MBP. I am wondering if I can move the media over to an external drive to free up some harddrive space?

IF so, how can I do it? would I need to reinstall final cut studio2? or is it as simple as moving over the content, then opening an app and pointing to the new directory when prompted?

anybody have any suggestions/ideas? I am going to try and move the media over to a new folder and see what happens...

Save the files from FCP itself on the external drive. The program needs ot know where all the files are so if you save it from within FCP everything will be cool. Don't just move the file from Finder. Once you have a copy on the external harddrive, delete it from the internal one. This i the safest way to go.
