    Hi,
I'm trying to install a printer driver for a Samsung ML-1710. I found the driver using a link posted on this very helpful forum, and it downloads as a file with .sit extension, and opens with Word. Neither of these extensions are recognized by the mac printer wizard, so how do I install this driver?

If it has an .sit extension then it needs opened with Stuffit Expander. Search your drive for SE, then launch it. Then drag and drop the .sit file onto SE in the dock. This unstuffs the installer app, which you then need to run to put the driver in place.

Are you running Leopard? If so, there might already be a driver for it. Choose System Preferences, Printer & Fax and click the + to see if the driver for it exists.

I do not want to add to any confusion but... the generic driver worked out better for my Samsung HL2700N then the given Tiger or Samsung drivers. You milage may vary... good luck...

    Solved

Yeah that worked great! I actually didn't have Stuffit Expander, so once I downloaded it, the rest was easy...Thanks!
