I download Silverlight and then can't install it. When I try to open the install pkg nothing happens. I can view the contents, but not install anything.

Did you download the Mac version?

Yes. I've tried downloading it about 10 times now. So frustrated. I've got a MacBook and I'm running 10.4.11 so it should install. But nothing.

The requirements say OS X 10.4.8 or higher
So you meet that requirement

Do you have an Intel Mac?
Version 2 only runs on Intel

If you have a PPC Mac you will have to install Version 1

What Mac do you have?
Go to the Apple Menu in the upper left corner and choose About This Mac
See if it says Intel

Yes, it's an Intel. What am I doing wrong?? I just don't understand.

When I try to download from that page it's the new version not the old one.

Hmmmmm, I see
They assume you want the newest version

What browser are you using to download?
Is the downloaded file named "Silverlight 2.0.pkg"?
What happens when you double click the file?

Firefox. It says Silverlight 2.0 dmg. When I double click on that it opens to Silverlight 2.0 pkg and I double click on that and nothing happens.

So should I download it again, restart and then double click?

It couldn't hurt to repair your permissions first

Go to Utilities -> Disk Utililty -> and Repair Permissions

Then restart your computer

Then download again and see if it make a difference

Sarah... if that doesn't work, I would go to the Silverlight Forum
Post there and ask... they are the experts on things like this

Sorry wasn't any help for you :(

But if you get it resolved, be sure to come back here and post the solution

Still doesn't work. Sorry to be taking up so much of your time and thanks for trying so hard to help me.

It's just extremely frustrating. I only need it to watch instantly on Netflix, but I can't do anything to make it work. I posted on the Silverlight forum, but no help there yet.
