Installing Snow Leopard on second monitor

Hi, I have an iMac with a broken screen that does not display anything, I have it hooked up to a second monitor but all it shows is the desktop background. I was wondering if there is some way to get the installation to show up on the second monitor, or to set this up as the primary display?

P.S: I have tried dragging the installation window, plugin and unplugging the monitor adapter, and also I do not have a second mac to do a Target Disk Mode install.

Can you right click on the secondary desktop and choose "Change Desktop Background..." ?

That would take you to System Preferences where you can switch to Displays and make changes as needed.
