Hey folks

So I was reading on the internet how newer MacBook Airs can install Windows 8 in EFI mode without using hybrid GPT/MBR. Some people have also reported success on older Macs, though depending on the model, they have some driver issues like audio not working.

I've got some time on my hands so I'd like to give this a shot.

I was just wondering if anyone has managed to succesfully install Windows 8 in EFI mode, on a MacBook Pro 13" mid 2010 (MacBookPro7,1). If so, what issues did you encounter?

Tried it several times on my Mac mini and gave up in the end. I have been using for years the file "patchedcode.bin" to patch the partition table so Windows will run in AHCI (required for SSD speed). I've had it working with Toshiba, Intel and Samsung SSD's, others may work, I have not tested it.

What year is your Mini, and why did you give up, driver issues?
