Who cares who wrote it? Are we worried about royalty fees here....lol?

No, I was simply stating his OP was the groundbreaking post he thought it was and he started catching feelings. That, and ge completely misunderstood what plagiarism is so I felt compelled to let him know about plagiarism, being a college student and all;)

this whole thread is making me laugh really hard.

Your example was crap. When you come up with a guide that "you wrote all by yourself" that is a carbon copy of guides published by websites such as Gizmodo, MMi, MacRumors, Engadget, etc... then yes, that is considered plagiarism. Cite your sources.

It was an instructional guide. I didn't copy or steal from anybody.

You know how many instructional guides there are in the world? There's bound to be a duplicate written by a different person telling someone what to do. They didn't copy, I didn't copy, so shutup.

I didn't change the actual IMEI of the phone. AT&T asked for my iPhone's IMEI and I gave them the one for samsung. They changed my iPhone Account's IMEI.

They will still catch you. They will still see you are using an iPhone and switch you back. You posted an old method that still has old problems.

They didn't copy, I didn't copy, so shutup.

See? Catching feelings ;)

Yes but when you see guides online, if they got it from somewhere else they say so. Therefore citing their sources. There are so many things wrong with your logic that I am just going to visit other threads. Good day to you sir

.......... they WILL notice the phone you are using doesn't match and switch it back! Clearly you don't understand that.

I don't care if they catch me or not, It was good while it lasted and I know that it's temporary.

For the last 3 days it has said I'm on an iPhone 3GS and I'm on an iPhone 3G Messaging plan but MMS still works. 'Course they know what phone I'm on but they didn't switch anything back.

Obviously you don't value your time. You spent all that time to use MMS for what, a day? Then are you going to do it all over again? We haven't had MMS for 2 years now, why is it so hard to deal with it for a few more weeks?

Some people just baffle me. And if you think it won't get switched back, you are sorely mistaken.

Tried the hack, got it to work, then it died. I'm done trying and i'll just wait. It was fun to test it and now I know I would probably use it once it's released but it's just too much hassle to get it to work constantly.

I like my method better. It's fool-proof and should work for everyone:

1. Wait until AT&T officially supports MMS.

Ok I got an email from AT&T about enabling MMS and this is what they said.

Thank you for taking the time to e-mail AT&T regarding how to enable MMS
and if we can help you enable MMS because people were able to call AT&T
and enable their MMS. My name is Juliana Heck, and I am happy to help
you with your inquiry.

Mr. Poat, I do apologize but MMS is not available for use on the iPhone
at this time. MMS will not work for your iPhone 3G with the 3.0 software
until AT&T network enhancements have been completed late summer, 2009.
Once the network enhancements are in place, you will be notified via
free text message and MMS will be automatically enabled on your iPhone
3G S.

It took me 10 minutes to enable and so far, I've been using it for 4 days.

Woah, it took you 10 minutes to update your carrier file, make calls in a second phone, have AT&T's network update, CALL AT&T and tell them your new IMEI? You are the fastest person in the world.

Its a waste of time, you said its been working for 3 days, then you just said 4 days (iPhone 3G S was released Friday morning, Saturday morning is day 1 (24-hrs), Sunday morning day 2 (48-hrs), Monday day 3 (72 hrs)). You can't keep your stories straight, the 3G S has been out for 3 days at the most if thats the device you are using. Your credibility is dwindling fast, and I am tired of this thread.

Started using MMS Thursday on my iPhone 3G. I already has the carrier files from early June when I was tethering. I put my sim in my friends phone and called 611. While I was on the phone, he put the settings in for MMS and changed my messaging options on wireless.att.com. AT&T asked for my IMEI, I pressed *#06# and gave them my IMEI. The said it should work, and sent me a test MMS. All was well. Maybe even less than 10 minutes passed.

If you're going to complain about every little detail, then leave, because I don't want to hear it.

The fact is, I got it working.

I too have given up on all these tethering and MMS hacks. I had tethering working for a while and then it just stopped. I had MMS available to the point where it would start to send, but could never get it to send. The process of going through and calling AT&T over and over again as they continue to catch you with MMS on your iPhone is just doing too much just to get some pictures over text message. If you need them that bad, just use the email route of MMS. I am hoping that AT&T is realizing the demand of MMS and will officially unlock them by August. Then again, knowing AT&T when they do unlock them there will be all types of problems and for some unknown reason only 45% of iPhone users will be able to use MMS until they get a fix:)

Also note that it cell phone providers can, and will drop you if you call too often. It is rare, but it does happen. If you are constantly calling for them to do stuff it all gets logged on your account, and if they start noticing that you are costing them too much in customer service time, they can terminate your account.

Are people sure ATT doesn't officially support it still? I got a text from ATT this afternoon on my iPhone saying, : "AT&T Free Msg: Connect with friends and family by adding pictures and videos to your text messages. Don't forget you can also instant message from your phone."

That, to me, sounds like the feature is up and ready to go...

That's the whole purpose of this thread, to find out what's up with this message. So far, it only seems like a few got the message. I didn't!

Never mind what I said above, I got this thread confused with the other thread that deals with this message....lol!

i just started being able to receive the text telling me to go to a website to see the MMS message.. better than nothing getting anything before..

do i call att now and try to say i dont want the links and hope it enables mms?

If you told them you where switching phone then they should have went in and changed your data plans as well. The wanted to do this when I told them that phone was sent in for repairs and was using an old one. Mine was just a temporary switch, so if you told them you where switching for good, I'm sure they would have insisted on removing the iphone data plan.

Another post overcomplicating what you have to do.

All that you need to do for MMS is:

1) enable iTunes 8.2 to allow you to modify the carrier bundle by running this terminal command: defaults write com.apple.iTunes carrier-testing -bool TRUE

2) load the .ipcc that has been floating around for months (or create your own) by shift-clicking on "Upgrade" when your iPhone is plugged in.

3) Reboot your phone

4) switch to a non-iPhone SMS plan

5) call AT&T and beg them to provision your account for MMS. This is the most important step. Nothing you do on your end will work unless AT&T allows MMS to work on your iPhone.

As soon as AT&T provisions you, you're good to go.

Step 5 is the step that'll kill most. And even if they get them to change it doesn't mean they're not going to turn around and change it back.

Why would they change it back? There's no system in place to detect an iphone then say "Make sure MMS is turned off for them!" It's not like they have people sitting around all day looking at accounts to see if they have an iphone and the opt out.

Because they have been changing it back. Look at all the threads about people having to reenable it.
