Hi,
I have a 2010 MBP and suddenly when I switch to the integrated (Intel) graphic card and distorted, the screen becomes grey. (see pictures below). It was working fine until now.

It happens when I switch using both the gfxCardStatus or the Preferences.

what's wrong?

:(

Will Apple Care replace it? I replaced the original HD with a SSD... shall I switch it back before going to Apple Care?

If you have Apple Care and it isn't expired, they will replace it. If it is the integrated graphics, I'm pretty sure it's on the motherboard, so that will be a fairly major repair.

I also have a 2010 15" MBP and have been getting the same problem occasionally when changing to Integrated from Discrete graphics, but not all the time.. hoping a clean install of Mountain Lion when it comes out will fix it as my current installation seems pretty tired all round. It has been happening on 10.7.4 and 10.8 GM since upgrading.

I'm getting the same problem since yesterday as well!!!! I have a Macbook Pro 2010 and been using it perfectly until yesterday. I updated to the latest gfxcardstatus and since then I'm starting to see this tray screen. I thought it's because of the latest version of gfxcardstatus, but I just clean installed Lion again, and the grey screen appeared in the login window. Had to restart. Seems a problem with the Intel HDm, if I force it via gfxcardstatus. Anyone help?

Btw, I'm on 10.7.4 and also upgraded to Mountain Lion GM. Same thing happens when it switches graphics.
