Hello everybody,

Today, I just connected my intel 10gbe nic(X520) to my M1 MacBook pro with Monterey (12.6.2) through AkiTio Thunder 2 Box and then I surprised it's working as well flawless.

By seeing the system report, I found the NIC is working with "com.apple.DriverKit-AppleEthernetIXGBE" which is native driver in macOS.

I was using this 10gbe nic on Intel Mac Mini with smalltree driver so far, and now I removed smalltree diver and then it works like a charm with Ventura 13.1.

I took the screenshot on my intel mac mini but I confirmed it's working as well on M1 mac as I mentioned earlier.

I guess, if you have any thunder bolt PCI interface with intel NIC like me, you may be able to use intel 10Gbe Nic as well when it matched with vendor id at least for X520.

I don't know when Apple got started supporting this NIC and I don't see any information about this but it seems that it was added recently.
Hopefully, It would be good information for anyone who likes to use Intel 10gbe NIC on Mac.

the following is simple iperf3 test between intel mac and freenas box.

I have a similar setup - Mercury Helios with a SmallTree-coded Intel X520 NIC. I accidentally plugged it into my iPad Pro instead of my dock during some testing, and was surprised to see an Ethernet tab appear in system settings and nearly fell off my chair when I saw both ports come up! On an iPad!!

I cross-checked this with Ventura on an M1 MacBook Pro 13" - same deal. Seems to work!

I can't seem to set the MTU to 9000, though. But this is a huge development for me, as finding a good dual port 10GbE NIC solution was going to get very costly for my move to an M2 Max system (coming from a 16" top spec Intel).

Sadly, my Promise SanLink3 T1 has no support, though!

I haven't tested an Intel-coded X520 yet. There's a non-zero chance this could disappear in the next release, though!

Can confirm that my Intel X520-DA2 with the Helios 3S, is plug n play on my M2 MBP with Ventura installed. I also cannot change the MTU size.. Would installing the SmallTree drivers would let me change the MTU size?
