Here is the fix for the firmware update problem where the computer cant find a SSD when you try to update the firmware:
(Basicly this "fix" works by removing everything from the SSD, formating it with mac extended journaled, then when the SSD is "empty", you CAN update the firmware, and after that you need to instal back on it again)
Backup EVERYTHING you want to save from the SSD thats on your computer.
Get your old HDD that you used to have in your Macbook, put it in a 2.5" SATA External Hard Drive Enclosure Case and connect it to the computer with USB.
Instal OS X Lion on the external, old, HDD on it, because you will need to boot from it. (it needs to be able to run Mac OS X)
Turn of your computer, remove your SSD from the Macbook and put your old HDD in your Macbook, then put the SSD in a external hard drive enclosure, connected with USB to the computer.
Start your computer, if everything is ok, you should be running OS X Lion without any problems.
Open "disk utilities" and then do like in this video up to 1.40 min (
DO NOT CLONE THE DISK!!!!) ..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ijvyXkfOvw (I did not make that video)
IMPORTANT, DO NOT CLONE THE DISK FOR IT TO BE ABLE TO UPGRADE THE FIRMWARE!!!
When you have made one new partition and format it to mac extended journaled, put the CD/DVD with the new firmware for the SSD in the DVD reader. TURN THE COMPUTER OF, remove the old HDD and put your SSD back into the computer.
Restart the computer, holding the C button, and now the firmware update should work and you should have the latest firmware installed
After this, you need to put back your old HDD into the computer, clone everything to the SSD with the Carbon Copy Cloner (CCC) and then AGAIN, put back your SSD in the computer and it will should work great.
This worked for me and my friend who had this problem...
