Thats's just boring old drive password security that macs can't even use. I still have to use PGP WDE based solution for all my encryption needs.

So most people using the Intel 320 don't use the TRIM hack? Doesn't the TRIM hack makes the drive preform better?

Some people use the TRIM hack. You can read that thread and see varying results.

TRIM will only make a speed difference once the drive gets to the point that almost every NAND cell has been written to at least once. And even when that happens, it will slow write speeds only and just slightly. This is also ignoring the fact the firmware has garbage collection that is supposed to perform this function, so it is likely not to be an issue anyway.

I have a Intel 510 SSD and I installed the hack then TRIM'd the drive manually by erasing free space in disk util, then removed the hack. If I see disk write speeds deteriorate I can reenable the hack and TRIM the whole drive again.

Even though many report no problems with the TRIM hack, I am a little nervous leaving it running all the time not knowing what problems it might cause.

Note: If you have a 2011 MBP the version of fsck that comes with it will TRIM the drive by doing one safe boot.

I have a 2010 15' MacBook Pro i5 and considering to buy the Intel 320. I'm also considering the Kingston V+100, because they have a better internal GC (making TRIM not necessary). Will it make much of a difference in performance?

Punch up the two drives in this comparison tool and see, but I doubt you would notice a difference among any of the newer SATA II drives.

Turn off the SMS!

FYI:
Just turn off the sudden motion sensor and you can you your computer like normal again. Also new firmware has just been issued and it solves those problems. I've have a OWC Mercury Extreme Pro and haven't ever had a problem since I turned off the SMS. If I start having problem like you, then I'll just update the firmware that fixes those issues that just came out.
Believe it or not, but the OCZ SSD Forum has the best advice on how to setup you OWC SSD. http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/forum/index.php. You should know the link for OWC's firmware page.

I think it is a good choice. If I had to stay
Sata II than that would be good or a OWC 240gb . I have had nice results with my extreme pro but I do not sleep my machines and i do not hibernate them either. Its leave it or its off.

Sata 3 right now . I'm not overly thrilled with any of them for one reason or another. Vertex has me nervous about reliability and the new Crucial m4 sounds okay but if I had it my way and I may sell the Intel 510 when it does come out is whatever Sata 3 OWC might have. But the 510 is worth a shot for sure.

Just wish to happily report that the Intel 320 300GB drive installed and works flawlessly on my 2011 17 inch MBP's ODD slot via the OWC Data Doubler.
