Which is why forward-thinking design-choices such as going all USB-C/TB3 is even more important!
I agree, but that doesn't make it more upgradeable.
We need to be able (again) to switch our disks and RAM - to say the least.

A forward think choice would be to put SSD in every single model.
Nowadays, just the system itself, demands it.

I think that SSD IS in every MBP model now.

And would you give up 50% of your SSD speed to make it replaceable? Don't laugh. Connectors have a significant inductance characteristic (not to mention resistance), that translates to longer signal propogation delays, that translates to slower speeds.

Same thing COULD be true of the RAM; but I'm not sure if it's as big of a factor with the lower voltages and currents involved with RAM vs. SSD.

True, but not on every Mac, which was what I was referring to.
You are forgetting iMac and Mac Mini.

Good point.
Makes sense and so far, the only acceptable reason not to be replaceable.

Me neither, but I doubt it.
Following that logic, the RAM of the 27" iMac is slower than that of the 21".

I still believe there's something else going on behind the scenes and it's not tech related, but rather economic.

Sure there is: GOOD connectors (and Apple specs the best) are relatively expensive, even for Apple. And when their studies show that only 10% of computer users EVER upgrade their RAM or SSD, then cost-reducing those connectors out starts to look awfully enticing to the board-members...

I had it with intel. Where the hell is XEON PROCESSOR?!!!

They came out a month ago. There's been plenty of Xeons to come out since 2013. Apple just doesn't care enough to do a simple processor swap on their most upgradable machine.

Sounds like it. March keynote rumor indicates it as well.

So... When to expect new iMac's? I currently don't have a computer and need one but don't want to buy an iMac that is 502 days old.
