It would be cool to run an external GPU on a 13" machine. Best of portability/power when I need it. PCI 3 should support this over T3.

Another MacBook item. Where the hell is Mac Pro in regards to this? MR, go fetch me some more rumors about it.

Apple only updates the Mac Pro once a century. ;)

Seriously, did anyone expect Apple to actually support the new Mac Pro? They came in and killed the functionality of the old one. Jony Ive got to pretend he's Picasso and that is all it was meant to do. Sadly, if they made it look like that Star Wars BB8 droid (it's halfway there already), it'd probably be their best selling computers since things like (plot) functionality mean nothing to these fans. :D

Ok, now THAT is something! :) It all comes together. Finally this usb-c thing makes sense.
Yeah, I think this fills in all the gaps in what we know so far about a much needed Macbook Pro update. Also It now makes even more sense why Apple is so extremely tight lipped about the updates... If they where to confirm any of these new specs without dropping the current retail prices there would be a full stop to Macbook sales.

It is officially important to not purchase any Macbook models until these specs are purchasable.

Intel just released new Broadwell Xeon chips that are appropriate the nMP (IIRC), so I would expect an update alongside the new rMBPs (or whatever they will be called) in June. If my hunch is correct, WWDC will be a huge release for new Mac models and should reorient their Mac lineup.

Ok...

So, Apple can sell EXPENSIVE dongles for converting USB-C to Thunderbolt/DP for current/yester year's MacBook Air/Pros.

I hate Apple keep changing their whatever ports including their meg-safe things.

Then in following years there will be USB-4.x and USB-C 2.x.. then this story keeps going on.

Also, Apple would put only ONE USB-C ports to sell a multiport dongle. Sigh...

Fingers crossed that they still put normal USB ports on the Pro (along with MagSafe and HDMI and a Cardreader....) They're fine to replace the thunderbolt ports with this though.
If there will be a new pro. Or mini. I've been waiting to buy neew mini from 2013. Maybe it's time for me to buy used 2012 model...

Not sure if this has been posted yet, not going to go through the entire thread to check.

Someone suggested Apple should have made their own dock for the 2016 MBPs — so it's not overpriced! (and if anything like my OWC Thunderbolt 2 Dock drop the connection so monitors go black for ten or more seconds and all encrypted external drives must have passwords re-entered again… kind of interrupts the flow when it happens every day and OWC not interested but I digress).

If this was an Apple product the price would be north of US$150, probably >$US200. Heck I paid US99 for a freaking aluminium remote IR device from Apple and they discontinued OS X Support for it even for 17" MBP which still has appropriate IR receiver. This is US$50. Kickstarted ends in 14 days.

I think that picture shows just how ridiculous it was of Apple to save a lousy millimeter or so of thickness by ditching the extra ports (i.e. it would have been better for Apple to just keep the extra ports and make it slightly larger). No one wants to have to plug a dongle into a notebook to do anything, but I suppose if you HAVE to, that looks like a pretty good solution. Of course, it's not an actual shipping product yet so....
