It's not that hard to go to HP's site. The 17" Macbook Pro isn't a lightweight either.
But finding the info you need in it is a task in itself.

I have to admit Apple does have some rather nice site layout for their products. Then again they only have a handful of models and actual product lines.But finding the info you need in it is a task in itself.

HP -> Notebooks -> ENVY -> ENVY 15 -> Specs
That wasn't too hard.
It doesn't matter what is in it, HPs are crap. Specs don't mean everything. Sure, they can put everything nice in there but they don't actually do a good job assembling the computer.
My own experience with HP. After about a year and a half, my wifi failed. I looked into it. That is pretty par the course for Pavillions and I would have to pay $150 to get it fixed (only to have it fail shortly after). Decided to just by a USB card. About 2 months ago (after less than 2 years of ownership), the power supply failed completely. Neither batter or power cord would power the laptop. Took to a professional for repair who told me it was unrepairable.
That's just untrue.
Apple has often been the FIRST to use a new mobile processor, in laptops or iMacs. They have also had specially built processors faster than anyone else, like the 3.06 Core 2 Duo in my nearly 2 year old iMac, a chip nobody else had and Intel is still struggling to outperform on a dual core basis, at least at a low price point. Apple also were the first to use newer Xeons in the Pro.
Apple does have a "product cycle" and so sometimes a competitor gets their chip into a product a week, a month, even a quarter ahead. So? It doesn't change the fact that HP laptops, while once good, have become crap. Tell my sister who's had hers fixed 3 times and it continues to break how great they are... If I'm going Wintel, I'll take Toshiba thank you, even if it's 20% more expensive...
so where is the macbook pro that uses the mobile quad core chip that came out last year?
right.
How about a quad-core i7 (i7-820QM) in the top 17-inch (or 20-inch just for grins) macbook pro with 8GB of memory and blu-ray? Now that would make my wallet lighter.![]()
Also want a 1 GiB 5xxx ATI GPU, how about adding a QuadroFX 3800M option as well for those who want to run CAD applications.
if there are no mbp updates within the next 4wks i am buying a windows-based machine.
See I don't see why they would put something on the web that's like this something that gives us mac fans such a bad filling thinking that it's not real but I think there is going to be one but I see it comeing out in the future more then Now. I still don't think intel knows what there doing I think that there got the date wrong. Maby they posted it and then some one looked at it and was like oh noooo.... Wrong release date we got to fix this so I do see it coming but in the future not any time soon witch makes me sadbut I'm not giving up hope I will still be young by the time it comes out
Maybe I missed something or it is happening later but from what I gathered there was no macbook pro update today?
Not one. We can hope for a silent bump, at this rate.
Apple is gradually getting out of the "computer" business to concentrate on gadgets and media toys. I give it five years max.
