Last night while thinking of ways to cure cancer and how create world peace i began to think about the Intel Core solo chip, about how Apple said that the Duo is approx 2x faster then the "old" G4 powerbook right? So if they throw a Intel Solo into the mini wouldnt that almost be a downgrade? it wouldnt be as fast as the "old" mini under rosseta (sp) right? It just seems that A Intel Solo Mac Mini would be down right hell to use with anything other then UB's. Apple would have to atleast up the max ram to 2gigs, and put a 3.5 inch HD in it for it to be of any real use... any input on this would be great, thanks

Dual core does not equal 2x performance over a single core. Plus UB are becoming the norm. Almost every aplication I use is now in a UB. If a Core Solo is what it takes to maintain the same price point as the current mac mini, I say bring it on.

Core Duo prices (per CPU, in 1000-unit quantities)
Core Duo T2600 2.16 $637
Core Duo T2500 2.00 $423
Core Duo T2400 1.83 $294
Core Duo T2300 1.66 $241
Core Solo T1300 1.66 $209
Core Duo LV L2400 1.66 $316
Core Duo LV L2300 1.50 $284

The Core Solo is still rather expensive. I'd be looking for a Celeron-M or Pentium-M.
