    Hey all,

Would an Intel X3100 be able to play Gears of War for the PC, or COD4 for my mac? Would it be able to run off an external hard drive (COD4)? Or have an external hard drive with windows vista installed and boot from that and have gears of war installed on that? I don't need great graphics, I just need it to be fairly nice...?

In a word - no. I wouldn't even bother trying those games with integrated graphics.

You would need at least the new Nvidia 9400m inergrated card that is found in the Aluminum macbook/pro/mini/newest white macbook they can handle those two games pretty well and unfortunatley you cant upgrade the card in the macbook so you would need to buy a new mac.

The card you have doesnt have a chance playing those games.

Really? Because I have my old PC in the house, and it is messed up (sister killed it) so I was thinking I should upgrade that, so would an 8800 or an 8600 do the job as 9400 = 8400 but faster and same with the 9600 and 9800 (8600, 8800)

An 8800GT would run Gears of War excellent. Of course, as far as I know, only the Mac Pro's have that (as a BTO) and that might be out of your budget. I wouldn't even consider the 9400m graphics. Sure, its good for integrated standards, but its still not very good for gaming, especially shader heavy games such as Gears of War and CoD.

If you're on a budget, and are set on a Mac, then i'd recommend the previous version iMac's that came with an 8800gs as a BTO. Those should run quite nicely.
