    Hi,

I have a white intel imac with a broken display. I now heard that in order to make the external screen primary - and that means being able to install os x and stuff - I have to disconnect the display from the logic board. Does that really work and the external display will be the primary one? Has anybody tried that? And if so than would I have to disconnect the screen, the inverter or both? I am worried that if I disconnect the inverter I might end up with no screens working.
It would really be nice to put the mac into a little case so that I don't have the broken display anymore. If anybody has done this I would appreciate some input.

    Thanks a lot,

If you have to personally open up the G5 iMac (which model?) and remove the display, you should be able to install a new display yourself. You might be able to find one for maybe half the cost of what DTT Service charges for their work.
