Intel announces its grand plan

The next time you tune in, turn on, plug in, rip, burn, listen, or view anything digital, there's a good chance that an Intel product will touch every aspect of your computing experience. At least that's what the company is hoping for.

Join "Tech Live" tonight at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, where we catch up with Intel CEO Craig Barrett to discuss the latest company initiative.

The world's biggest chipmaker is at the center of the major theme of this year's CES: wireless power.

The company seems to be aiming at turning just about anything electronic into a wireless communications device. Intel is also focused on moving the speed and power of traditional desktop systems to all kinds of devices that fit in the palm of your hand.

-Could this hurt Apple in the future? Because intel is based on mostly on windows

it could hurt apple indirectly, part of the Mac's appeal is the PowerPC technology, if it gets moved out of the mainstream (powers the GameCube, for instance) and intel overshadows it, it'll seem more like a fringe product. i don't know if Intel is prepared for the marketing war that would happen if they tried to seriously edge into all lines of comsumer electronics, and i know i wouldn't buy them if i had an option.

Intel the company and its chairman Andy Grove...they're stupid. Intel's market share will go down 1. because Intel is horrible 2. because Microsoft is a gigantic monster that is slowly but surely dying and 3. because Apple (with IBM and/or Motorola) will someday become the world's #1 computer manufacturer.

That means that their products will never take off.
