I just ran a AT&T iPhone X IMEI and a AT&T iPhone 8 IMEI on Verizon's website and both came back as compatible. It would appear that despite the lack of CDMA radios, Verizon is allowing GSM iPhones to activate on their network as LTE only devices.

Can anyone with an AT&T iPhone X and a activated Verizon SIM confirm?

I read yesterday in another post that this was confirmed. There was lots of detail about VZW’s network being compatible because they have a GSM network running concurrently, and they offer GSM only phones direct from their stores. This is welcome info to me. Not that I plan on jumping ship anytime soon, but nice to have the option. This is the only reason the CDMA models were more desirable to me because they were more flexible in US networks. I could care less about the Intel/Qualcomm modem differences personally.

Well now you really only need CDMA for Sprint and that company is basically bankrupt so

I freaking hope not. Just what we need is more consolidation in another internet industry. Right now there are lots of competitors in cellular. I’m sure we Americans love how little choice if any, we have in cable and broadband. Yea! Let’s repeal net neutrality - said exactly no one except Comcast and Verizon.

Sprint may as well be dead, they haven’t built a new tower in my state in over 10 years. Even after buying out Nextel, they just abandoned their towers, and this last year t mobile finally took them over for pennies on the dollars.

Honestly the sooner they liquidate the better. I used Sprint for 3 years before I moved to South Korea and the networks here make Sprint look like a joke. Not even SoftBank could save Sprint.

Probably right about Sprint, but I haven’t followed their business in awhile. But to be fair, South Korea probably has one of the best broadband networks in the world. The government subsidizes and prioritizes it. Actually most country’s governments do and treat it like a vital, regulated utility. In the US, we are told that even in these industries, we should leave it to the cable and power companies to look out for the country’s and the consumer’s best interests. That always works out well. Sorry about the semi-tangent commentary. I’m a little pissed at Congress right now.

I felt the same way about the two modems, but in my experience with both versions of the X, the QC is superior in low signal areas. That matters most of all to me.
