So..I have been waiting long for the new MBP and I thought we might get the Iris 580 but we got the Iris 550. I just want to get an idea, how much graphics power does this give for gaming?

Are we talking PS3 level or Wii U? what should I expect? Is eGPU something I can do? It would probably be cheaper than buying the $2300 '15 MBP with AMD GPU.

Here's the benchmark for an Iris 550 at 1653:

The PS3, from what I see on the internet, has an equivalent of an nVidia 7900GT at 258:

The Wii U is about a Radeon 4770 at 1055:

Not too shabby...

For reference, the Radeon RX 470 ($175) in my gaming computer is at 7245:

Thanks, do you think its worth going for the Radeon GPU in the '15 models, or is it just paying too much for something that will hardly give any improvement for games?

Way too much. It's a recycled chip. Very subpar to use in games. If you want to game, take money and go with a PC laptop/desktop.

I am not looking to run The Witcher in 4K but for $2650 laptop I should at least be able to run games on PS4 level... at least!

The PS4 is equivalent to a Radeon HD 7850 which is at 3780:

I don't know which MB you are talking about, but the one for $2800 has a Radeon Pro 455 talked about here:

http://www.pcgamer.com/amd-unveils-radeon-pro-400-series-of-gpus/

There are some basic specs for the cards on the new Radeon Pro Creators website. The Radeon Pro 450 has up to 1 teraflop peak performance, 10 compute units (640 stream processors) and 80GB/s memory bandwidth. The next step up is the Radeon Pro 455, with up to 1.3 teraflops peak performance, 12 compute units (768 stream processors), and 80GB/s memory bandwidth. The most powerful of the new cards is the Radeon Pro 460, with up to 1.86 teraflops peak performance, 16 compute units (1024 stream processors), and also 80GB/s memory bandwidth.

None of these even come close to AMD's latest desktop GPUs, with the least powerful, the RX 460, clocking in at up to 2.2 teraflops peak performance. So, don't expect to be getting huge gaming performance out of the Radeon Pro 450, 455, and 460 when they're released.

The RX 460 comes in at 4349:

It won't be too shabby for a mobile device - you'll be able to run a lot of games on it, but mainly around 1080p medium...

The GPU in question is on the same level of performance as GTX 940M/GT750M from 15 inch MBP from previous generation.
