That's more like it.... Vista anyone?? :D

I use my Mac mini Core Duo also as my media box. Got ik hooked up to my HD ready 1280 x 768 LCD TV via DVI, and am very pleased with it.
I use Front Row for all the videos I have.

Luckily DivX 6 has an UB beta, which runs very well, but I miss just three codecs to make it a perfect world:
AC3 audio, 3ivx, and Flip4Mac.

I have to use VLC (which is excellent, grab the latest nightly builds)
But it would be so nice if all these codecs were for QuickTime, thus working in Front Row.

A question for you.. Does your mini fit full res. on your TV?? I have a (Duo) Mini hooked to my Sony 42" HDTV, and I just can't get the picture to fit (entirely) on the screen. I've played around with every posible res, plus tried a few Apps. for advanced resolution-(biggest problem is, DisplayconfigX dosen't work when using my DVI-HDMI cable, only with a DVI-VGA). I notice on boot up, the grew apple screen is full (edge to edge), but as soon as the desktop loads, it shrinks back down.. I was really hoping it would work "out of the box", but not to be..

I guess I am lucky.

Yes, the mini Core Duo does fit the full resolution. It is attached via DVI to DVI.
This TV has a 26" 1280 x 768 native res. screen, and the mini recognizes it perfectly, just like it were a normal LCD display. Even when booting from DVD (or even Windows! )

I used to have a PPC Mac mini (Rev A 1.42 GHz) attached to it, but that could not display the "native" resolution without utitilies. It would display 1280 x 1024, but needless to say that that res. gave a stretched view.

Ya, the only way to get it corner to corner, is with Overscan set, but then it's just a bit too big to fit on the screen.. I've learned to live with a small black border around everything, but it's a bit anoying..
Thanks for your quick reply.

comon Apple
Shouldn't you be angry at Microsoft? They're the ones who use WMV/WMA. The reason QT works on Windows is because of Apple. There's no built in viewer. Some content doesn't work on my Windows 2000 box because I haven't updated WMP on it yet. Issues with FireFox too, so it isn't just Safari. DIVX isn't exactly a standard just because people use it, especially since there are so many different versions, but a UB version is coming. F4M is being updated too, and they're pretty much it for WMP content because MS discontinued it for Macs and version 10 requires XP. When it's ready, I'm sure it will work fine, except for some things that don't work in FF either. Again, I totally blame MS since QT and Real work just fine.

I only want a proper AC3-codec, the ones out there do a horrid job: either they crash everything or then they generate buzz. Oh, and the Intel-port of Flip4Mac would be nice but it can wait a bit longer.

Is this one buggy?

Just tried it out...crashes when I try and play a movie with AC3. I guess that's a yes. Is there a universal codec somewhere else that works better?

I just downloaded the popwire plugin and it works great. However, you must download .wmv files to play them in quicktime with popwire; there is no embedded Safari support like Flip4Mac has.

Flip4Mac also automatically shows .wmv icons as belonging to Quicktime, while Popwire just shows them as plain white icons. I know I can change this myself, but it's nice to have that automatic added effect.

Still trying to find an ac3 codec that doesn't crash quicktime, I'm nearing the point where I use boot camp to watch them in XP.

Anyone find an ac3 codec that isn't a train wreck?
