This is a weird one. My wife has an Intel MBA, about 18 months old. Whenever she takes it to work or university, the screen won't come on. The machine wakes from sleep, but the screen just remains blank. Power cycling the laptop seems to work although she may have to do it a few times.

At home, when its just being move from room to room, it never fails to come on.

I've checked and she's not transporting it in a backpack or with stuff on top of it so I'm guessing its just the extended period of constant movement which is affecting some physical connection or other.

Has anybody had something similar with a MBA?

We had planned on replacing it with an M1/M2, but with the Apple trade-in only being £250, I'm not sure if the cost to get it fixed by Apple will be worthwhile. If it was something common which I could get parts for and do myself I'd maybe be tempted to go down that route and we could give this to one of the children.

Any advice/ideas?

Thanks!

Have you thought of going to Apple? This seems like a hardware fault that they could diagnose.
Yes, I'll book an appointment but wasn't sure if anyone had a similar fault as I expect it will be an expensive repair from Apple for a machine which is just losing value with every passing month.
