Intel MBP as servers in clamp shell mode

Is it safe to use Intel MBP's as servers in clamp shell mode (the display is closed)? The fans are going like crazy and not sure if the airflow is sufficient.

It is a night and day difference against my 16" M1 Max MBP which stays quiet all the time.
 
I had a bad experience with a 11" MacBook Air few years back. Constantly on charge caused the batteries to swell. Repairable, but trackpad & case damaged. Would never use a laptop in clamshell mode as a server again
