For my backups I been using SuperDuper! to clone my drives to Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 and 7200.11 drives.

Recently I discovered that not all my Seagate drives boot. I thought it was SuperDuper! but it turns out that some drives don't boot at all even with a clean OS install. I can mount and read the data fine but just gives me the 'flashing folder icon with the ? mark if I just try booting on the sata backplane. If I plug the 'bad' drive into a firewire caddy it boots just fine.

Pretty much with each batch of HD's I buy I just test and make sure they boot. But this gets pretty silly when I have 10 HD's I need to test.

Just wondering if anyone has ran into this problem.
