HomePod Intercom Problems

Hi all - on 14.2 with 4 new HomePod mini's.

Anyone having issues with intercom - when you try to send to specific room Siri says that room is "not available" but when you send to all HomePod minis, the intercom works fine

Yeah using the correct name. It’s really odd as when you send a general one - it goes to all the home pods including this particular one ( office)

but when doing direct to office just says “office is not available”

Exactly which command are you using? And what have you named your HomePods in the home app? I’ll then go check mine.

I have named one of the rooms “study”.

I use the command “ Hey Siri - intercom the Study” then the message.

That command works with 2 out of 4 rooms in the house so the command is fine.

I am gearing towards a connection issue, as if the homepods are not “mesh’ing” together properly?

Oh that’s a good point! All the Homepods are just called HomePods but the rooms are named - see attached

I am having this same exact issue. I assumed it was a bug in 14.2. I’m trying to be patient in hopes that 14.3 includes some bug fixes. Can‘t get handoff from my phone to my homepods to work consintently either. That’s been going on for a long time, though....not just with 14.2.

I would definitely recommend you renaming them, even if it’s just to experiment. For example mine are called living room HomePod, office HomePod, bedroom HomePod et cetera.

Agree - there seem to be a few bugs, let’s see how long apple takes to release the next fix but this issue doesn’t seem to be widespread
