Interest in black bezel skin for macbook air 11" and 13"? Pics inside

Hmm..it's interesting. Before I got my MBA, I would definitely have picked one of these up cause I thought the silver bezel looked awful (coming from a MBP).

But now that I've got my MBA, I kinda like the overall look with the silver bezel. Doesn't bother me at all.

It's a good alternative though for those who really dislike the silver around the screen.

In typing this from a Black MacBook, you might see where I'm coming from. I've never regretted this color choice, and love it all the more.

If not an entirely black color computer option, then the black bezel on the MBPs seems to me a decent compromise. People will surely favor different colors, but black perfect in being a neutral surround for that viewed. So, yes, I would very much favor some method for a black bezel on the MBA.

Some thoughts on that. Most products in the Mac aftermarket reflect the same high standards as the computer, and that is the standard one should aim for and meet. Something applied to the MBA bezel may work, but it need fit exactly and look OEM. The cutout for the MacBook logo at the bottom you suggest is a case in point; just wrong, with a better solution, as others have suggested, in covering that type entirely. The best solution, and one your competitors may well introduce if you do not, is the same exact logo printed or embossed on the bezel cover, looking no different than if Apple put it there. If that seems daunting, then no less than the necessary step from hobby to a viable product many might buy.

For those so interested, there are some good options if one would prefer something other than the standard color and look of the MBA. But be forewarned you'll probably choke on the price:

Totally cool idea. But have to agree with some of the comments.

The little cutout at the bottom looks terrible. Ideally you'd print the name on there in silver foil or something like that so that it more closely matches how it SHOULD look.

Additionally the cutout at top while not terrible isn't awesome either. Would be better to just cover the led hole (people can poke holes with a needle if they want and get the edge around the camera so that there's no silver showing.

Also hard to tell from the lo-res photos but it looks like a matt finish. Should really be glossy.

If you were able to produce a high quality tightly fitting version of this that makes the above changes this is totally something I'd buy.
 
I personally like the MBP-style black bezel better than the MBA silver one. That being said, as far as that skin goes, instead of leaving a whole in the button, they should cover it and simply print "Macbook Air" on it in silver.
 
I think if this product had MacBook Air on the front instead of the cutout and was made out of a thin gorilla glass or metal, I would consider it. Vinyl is a no go.
 
Personally, I would not be interested in it. But I do think it would look better if you didn't have a hole so you can see the "MacBook Air" logo, you should print it in silver on the actual skin rather then having a hole. I think so anyway.
 
This thread has highlighted just how distasteful people can be in conveying dissatisfaction with something, pretty basic tactlessness.

Personally I wouldn't buy it only because I don't mind the bezel but I know people who don't like the appearance of the stock bezel at all and would love this.
 
This thread is like a year old.. Since then the developer took in your suggestions and made it an available product. Can't knock a guy for trying to innovate and produce something people might want.. Better than having no options at all..
 
Interesting but I have a problem: The "Macbook Air" inscription.

I don't want it to disappear but I find kind it of ugly that there is a hole to let it appear.

I would suggest going all the way black and printing the name Macbook Air in the reverse color.

Also have you thought about other kinds of black of dark grey ?

Like I said he has made that option already. But the recommendation to change up the colors might be an interesting one. Thanks.
