I picked up the new Apple TV today and have mostly been pretty enthused about it (except for the lack of Remote app and Bluetooth support), although I went to go get either another Siri Remote or some sort of controller for games and noticed they had the Remote Loops at the Apple Store. I picked one up and noticed that the wording was a bit odd:

I get the Siri Remote mention (since that's what the replacements are officially branded as), but the Apple TV Remote is nowhere to be found (it basically connects with a Lightning Connector-shaped metal post with spikes that almost look like the old 30-pin Dock Connector cables—no way to attach it to the old aluminum Apple TV Remote). When purchasing, I asked the Specialist who helped me and she thought it was odd, too (also verified the old $20 remotes were a no-go). Perhaps they were developing a "lite" version of the remote without Siri capabilities?

The same remote is called "Apple TV Remote" in regions that don't support Siri. Suppose they could have just used a / instead of an and.

That makes sense - I was hoping that I found something. If they were working on something new, I wouldn't have minded an extra one without Siri for $50ish (*grumble* *grumble* can't pair phone *grumble* *grumble*)

Looks like that is the case - as posted on footnote 1:

"Apple TV (4th generation) ships with the same remote everywhere. In countries and regions that support Siri, the remote is called Siri Remote. Elsewhere, it’s called Apple TV Remote. Siri works on either remote as long as you’re in a country or region that supports Siri."
