That was fun. A click bait article explaining click bait. I gave up on google searches. I get more new info on this forum. Waiting for some real hands on articles from people who get to play with them for more than 5 minutes.

Well I think this is more about the hype around Apple Watch among the general public, less so about the quality/merits of the device. People on tech forums are always going to be "in the know" but is there the same sort of enthusiasm with the general public as the media articles are leading us to believe? All my coworkers knew last year that a new iPhone was coming out in September, but people are often surprised when I tell them Apple is making a watch.

I agree. I have had a few ask if my Pebble is the Apple Watch but most I talk to have no idea a Watch is coming. The commercials are great but who with a DVR sees commercials? They had to be watching the news the day of the announcement to hear about it. It dropped off of TV news after one day.

That is an interesting read, thanks OP!

I am curious if they will have a follow up article after the watch is released.

Right, 8 generations out they'd have to live under a rock to not know an new iPhone is coming. Question is did they know the original iPhone was coming out when it was announced; two weeks before release and before all the media attention on the campers? Probably not. If they knew about it were they excited. Probably not. Anecdotal but I lined up a couple hours before the original iPhone went on sale. Passers by kept asking why were were in line. We said "iPhone." They responded either "what's that," or shrugged.

When the iPad was announced, what did people think it was... a big iPhone. They really didn't understand the concept of a tablet until the iPad was in the wild and they could try it out.

I suspect this is what will happen with the AW. Tech people, maybe fashion people will be the very early adopters and then as people wander into Apple Stores (always the busiest store in malls) and come to understand it better it will either catch on or it won't.
