Interesting that the Thunderbolt display isn't coming out for two months ;-)

Just pure speculation, but October-November could be a nice time for a new Mac Pro to try your TB display out on:eek:

    I wouldn't bet on it.

If you look closely, it's aimed at consumer users where it would generate a lot more sales IMO (Mag Safe connector is a major clue).

The 27" ACD was announced on the same say as 2010 Mac Pro and also featured a MagSafe port so I wouldn't say that is an indication of anything. I do agree that the Thunderbolt display is more aimed at consumers though, especially at laptops users since it's a docking station now.

I see it as more of a coincidence though.

Both were ready at the same time, so released in the same announcement. But not done purely out of necessitation as the MP can be used with 3rd party monitors, which professionals tend to use rather than the more recent ACD's (since the went to glossy screens). Granted, the simultaneous release can generate a few additional ACD sales, but I don't see it as significant vs. the consumer market (where glossy screens and LED back lighting are fine, and features such as the MagSafe connector are desirable).

I should have been more clear on this point.
