Can I ask a favor? I’ve had my 12.9” 2018 IPP since the release date. Today, I noticed an interesting wear pattern on the plastic charging (wireless) window for the pen. It’s very difficult to capture in pictures, but I tried anyways. The two pictures are of the same position, but with the iPad at slightly different angle as I could not capture all four marks at the same time. I use a mount to hold my iPad. The mount applies some pressure in that same area. So right now I’m not sure if the wear is from the pen or the mount. If you could take a quick look and let me know if you see something similar (those that use the pen) then I’ll know if it is the pen or my mount. If it is the later I’ll need to figure out a different method to hold the iPad as it may be clamping too forcefully. Thanks.

No wear on mine from the Pencil. Looks as perfect as it did on release date.

Thanks for the feedback. I did find a thread on Reddit /r/iPad that mentioned wear on the area. Some had scratches as well.

Mine did. Not as bad as yours tho, it only looks bad if you shine light at it in a certain angle.

Yes, I should have emphasized that in my original post. It isn’t easily noticed unless light hits it just right. The issue seems benign so I’m not going to worry about it. I will probably work on my mount to reduce the tension. Thanks.

I took a trip to the Apple Store to pickup a Smart Keyboard. While there I took a look at the demo machines. Every one of the space gray demo tablets had wear on the plastic window. The silver models looked ok, but I think that is due to to the color hiding the wear. So I think that settles the issue for me. I think I picked up the wear from the pencil and not the mount. The wear seems to be just normal wear. I think the only way to prevent it is to not use a pencil or cover the area with a decal/sticker.
