Intermittent battery charging issues. AC adapter or problem with MBP?

I've recently been having some issues with charging my late 08 mbp. Most of the time when I plug in the mag safe, it charges without an issue, but lots of times when I plug it in, the little light on the mag safe does not glow orange or green and in the place at the top of the screen that displays the battery level it will say "not charging." The issue is easily resolved by simply unplugging the magsafe and plugging it back in. But my question is is this indication of a possible bigger issue in the future? Are the charging issues the fault of the power adapter or is it something with my mbp? Any help would be appreciated.

I have had the same issue with a Rev A. 17". Since we have models so far apart I would think that that points to the Magsafe being the issue.

Anyone with any ideas?

Could be the magsafe adapter or the battery. It sounds like it should still be under warranty; give AppleCare a call first thing in the morning...🙁
