iPhone 12 with VW Transporter connected via USBC cable included with iPhone.

After 5-10mins of listening to music via Apple Music or radio via the LBC app or the RadioPlayer app (so, essentially, any audio) the audio starts to crackle, a bit like static on an old FM radio.

The only way to stop it is to briefly stop playback by either pressing pause/play or hitting the Siri button twice on the steering wheel. But then a few minutes later, it'll crackle again, ad infinitum.

I previously used an Android phone via Android Auto and this wasn't an issue. Looking on the net, it seems to be a problem with the iPhone that has gone on for years, but there appears to be no resolution.

Google have Android Auto forums when Google reps are there to help and request more info. Does Apple have something similar? Seems odd that all these iPhone users are just shrugging and accepting that CarPlay doesn't work correctly.

I had a similar issue with my Forester last year on my iPhone 7 and it was the head unit. Subaru had to put out a firmware update and it was fixed after that.

I've got this via CarPlay on my VW GTI, but seems to occur only on phone calls. Happens with multiple phones so it's either an iOS bug or a head unit issue (VW wanted $150 to check to see if there was a firmware update so I nixed that pretty quickly.)
