Internal HDD not showing on Reset (Large Capacity)

Mac Pro 5,1 running Mojave

I have read about this issue for awhile I think it may be some kind of firmware issue with larger capacity drives.

My 8TB Western Digital hard drive in Bay 4 only shows up if the computer is shut down and started up, it does not show up on restarts.
WDC WD80EZAZ-11TDBA0.


I have an 8TB Seagate in Bay 3 that works fine.

Have there been any fixes for this issue?

Odd - Seagate has two different ST8000DM004 models - one is a "Barracuda" with a 2 year warranty, the other a "Barracuda Pro" with a 5 year warranty.

Seagate's site isn't clear about which model the 2CX188 suffix refers to.

As are many (edit: reasonably priced) high capacity drives....

And at around 200 MB/sec it's faster at sequential IO than 15000RPM drives of few years ago.
