Hey, all. I've made two threads on this issue before, so third time's the charm, I guess.

I'm in Ireland for a semester, my mom's in Indiana. iChat videoconferencing doesn't work from here. It didn't work in Killarney, it worked at our apartment in Galway (yay!) but it doesn't currently work from Greystones.

That's what I currently get as part of the error when it doesn't connect. I have total access to all parts of both local networks, but no control over the in-between parts.

Any ideas, guys? Thanks.

Does your modem/router/gateway have NAT enabled? You may need to port forward in order for iChat to connect correctly.

You may also be interested in checking the Mac OS X Firewall, third-party firewall software or hardware, and even your modem/router/gateway's firewall.

Good luck, mathcolo

Sorry about the double post. Okay, the router here is a Linksys and I don't know how to be sure that the ports are open... do I need to disconnect and reconnect? Do I need to open the ports on my computer and the router itself? Thanks.

Well. I don't know how to specifically solve your problem but another way of A/V would be using Skype. Skype is the best program in that matter.

May I ask the model of Linksys router you have? thanks

Hi again...

This is a guide on how to port forward for your router. Unfortunately I just realized it isn't that hard and could've just pointed you to portforward.com... oh well:rolleyes:

Regarding the numbers to put into that: See this Apple support article.

If you need any further assistance, feel free to post again. I'll be watching here for a while.
