The above is in German, a rough translation follows:

Apple wants to make its iTunes Music Store accessible to its European users in October. Stated by Bart Cools, managing director of EMI Switzerland, according to a report by m4music Newsletter at a Symposium of the Swiss Music Branch of EMI. musikwoche.de has heard from the best informed circles that the US Computer Maker (Apple) would have its shop ready shortly, from a meeting of the top EMI Managers in Barcelona. Apple therefore could have its shop ready for the Christmas season with a strong European wide marketing effort for the new iPods, the iTunes software and store, and naturally also the introduction of iTunes for Windows.

International iTunes Music Store - October?

MediaBiz.de reports on the upcoming International iTunes Music Store:

Apple plans to make its Music Store available in Europe in October. This was explained by Bart Cools, Managing Director of EMI Switzerland in a story by the actual m4music-newsletter at a meeting (Symposium) of the swiss music branch.

Previous reports have indicated significant interest in launching the international iTunes Music Store -- but no specific timeframe had previously been predicted.

The title of this topic is misleading. It claims to talk about an "International iTunes Music Store" that is coming soon; however, the article is clearly talking about an European iTunes Music Store. So the article should be retitled to "European iTunes Music Store" coming soon, because it looks like those of us here in Asia will still have to wait for a while!

I m really waiting for it s dispo here in Luxembourg, there are no really good cd resellers. Well, certainly they got some amount of cd s but not really differenciated music.
The Music Store is my opport. to get in somekind exactly what I want. Thought I will probably only dl full albs.

Well if its outside of america its international dosnt matter if its in europe asia russia or the south pole if its happening its great news....

Bring on the pay as you listne cards i tell you...

by the end of the year i will be in the poorhouse

in july new G5 and 23' display AND i-pod, and from October on a continuous drain on my credit card for all the songs i have already earmarked ... but i will sleep happily under a bridge :)

good news. now if they only got some european err.. indie labels onboard.. like Good Looking, Compost, Defunked etc :) there's too little electronic music by now. if they got all the new drum & bass and nu-jazz/downtempo releases there, they'd have a potential customer here.. I don't have a credit card though (and can't get one for a long time).

i'm with you...

i'm with you on this one. thing is, most of the stuff i listen to has less than 3% market share... i'm in the states so i can buy stuff at the store, but most of the music i would buy is not on there. i'm still waiting for the happy mondays to get a spot on there. bob's yer uncle!

i'm not complaining here, just stating my position.

It will be good when it comes, but no doubt, the prices will be hiked, especially for a European Premuim, and the Extra Special UK Price Premuim.

I wonder if October will also bring the Windows ITMS?

I had randomly said this is the MacRumors IRC Channel, but I'll throw it out there again.

[I am looking for the link-I originally saw it on Yahoo]

Basically it just says that the EU has ruled in some case that does not allow Amazon to use its 1-Click service in Europe. I am not exactly sure what it means, but to me that means Apple won't be able to include 1-Click purchasing in the European/International iTMS.

As I think of it, it could be only good for the labels if they put their 12" releases to iTMS.. because now mostly only DJs buy vinyls. If the singles were in iTMS, you could get them there and wouldn't need to buy a turntable before you could even play the vinyls. Well, I already bought one (deck that is), but I guess I could sell it if the stuff was already available at iTMS.
I think people downloading the stuff from kazaa etc don't really do much harm to the small labels because those people wouldn't buy the 12's anyway.
So my point is, there would be absolutely nothing to lose for these small organisations that (imho) put out the best music in the world (after Mozart & fellaz) :)

I don't have any information on that one, but it sounds plain stupid. :p hope apple can solve this problem if it excists.

I don't think it's a matter of allowing them to use it, as it is in use in Europe right now. It's more a matter of not being allowed to patent it. Amazon.de uses it and I'm sure that Apple will too. I wonder if Amazon still can exert control over it outside the US?

nice.... and what's gonna be the price? 99 eurocents would be a little more than 99 cents US... or does that depend on the deal apple makes with the european music distributors?
