Engadget: International release on May 28th!
I fly at 7am that day for 2 week holiday... so wanted the ipad for that!
It is also my last day in my current job, so it is going to be akward for me to get away early/arrive late (nearest Apple Store is 100 miles away!).
£429/£499/£599 for WiFi
£529/£599/£699 for 3G.
still no pricing for Canadia? blah. Come on Steve, is this any way to treat a neighbour?
My only source right now:
A trusted one (respected Mac/iPhone/iPad developer) but still trying to find a better source.
Update: source was apparently an Apple PR which has now been pulled; archived here:
Damnit, got an exam in the morning!
Glad they've set the date in stone though.
No "official" pricing for anyone yet :-(
If legit, another notable bit of information from that PR:
Seems redundancy has at least 1 benefit
I'll be off work and just been paid my redundancy pay out.
So.....I'll have 4 please
Tech Radar is reporting the same pricing.
Here is the Australian pricing.
Pricing & Availability
iPad is available in Australia for a recommended retail price of AUS$629 inc GST for 16GB, AUS$759 inc GST for 32GB, AUS$879 inc GST for 64GB for Wi-Fi models and AUS$799 inc GST for 16GB, AUS$928 inc GST for 32GB and AUS$1049 inc GST for 64GB for Wi-Fi + 3G models. iPad will be sold through the Apple Store, Apple's retail stores and select Apple Authorised Resellers. The iBooks app for iPad including Apple's iBookstore will be available as a free download from the App Store on 28 May.
I'm seeing it all over the net on various sites, but nothing in Apple's press release.
Clever pricing too- I was looking at the WIFI 16Gb if it was £399, but seeing as it's looking to be £429 I may as well go for the WIFI 32Gb!
I hope to be proven wrong, but I am unsure about those UK prices....
..64gb wifi same as 32gb 3g????
I was wanting a 64GB... but I may go for 32GB if those prices turn out to be true. What I don't get though is that the price difference between 16GB and 32GB is less than the difference between 32GB and 64GB. That doesn't seem right to me...
So my question is, do I wait up until 12:01am on May 10 or will pre-order start at a sensible time?
Should be at normal opening hours e.g. 9-10am from what an Apple employee has just told me over the phone
You can lie in until 9am at the earliest, although some have reported a 10am start for the Pre-Orders.
There's a link from the MacRumors.com homepage. Apparently you need to go into your countries Apple site. The Press Release is customised with the prices.
What about online ? Any ideas ?
I have called Apple Sales but they didn't give me any information other than the 10th May. I have read that some member's of Apple staff have been told NOT to discuss the pricing (or iPad at all) until Monday morning.
If you've registered your interest on the Apple.com/uk/ipad site you can pre-order the moment you receive the email on Monday morning.
My local store opens at 9am, so I'll be there then. If I have to wait, it's no biggie I'll sit in Starbucks and play Fieldrunners.
iPad is available in Canada for a suggested retail price of $549 (CAN) for 16GB, $649 (CAN) for 32GB, $749 (CAN) for 64GB for Wi-Fi models and $679 (CAN) for 16GB, $779 (CAN) for 32GB and $879 (CAN) for 64GB for Wi-Fi + 3G models.
From their press release, available here: iPad Canada Press Release
It comes out just one day before my birthday! I already know one of the presents will be an iPad case
