A friend of me has an iMac G5 with 10.4.11 and all last updates for Tiger.
He uses Wifi. When he works with Safari or sends mails the Internet connection suddenly stops. He puts the computer to sleep and wake him up immediately. Surfing and mailing is OK for a while until the Internet connection is broken again. His internet provider is Scarlet from Belgium. He has called for support and got the following answer: the culprit is the software from the computer. Does someone can give any advice? Would reinstall the system help? Or upgrading to Leopard ? Archive and install or clean install? Or do we have to delete corrupted preference files? If so, which? Thanks in advance for all suggestions.

Insufficient information.

What kind of router? What kind of 802.11 network? Does the computer lose connection if it's wired to the router directly? Does the computer lose connection if it's wired to the modem directly?

router = modem = sagem
