I have a mac book. It is a 2 yrs old. It connects to the internet using wireless but not with the cable. Took it in for service at microcenter and was told it is a software problem which is not covered under the 3 year ext warranty. They think it is due to using lime wire. Any suggestions?

You should really have them do more checks. They can easily tell if it is software related by booting off an external drive, plugging in the ethernet cable and seeing if it works. If it doesn't work, it is probably a hardware issue. Blaming lime wire for a basic networking problem is not a valid diagnosis.
